It was another big day for the U.S. team, especially swimming. Michael Phelps started off slow at first, but now he has 21 medals after he won the 1oo meter fly with another gold medal. This win adds up to 19 gold medals, and his second 3-peat event. He will try to get another and his last gold medal in the 4x100m medley relay. Missy Franklin adds another gold by winning her fourth overall medal in the 200 meter backstroke. Team USA’s 15 year old Katie Ledecky wins gold easily during the 800meter freestyle, winning over British favorite Rebecca Adlington.
After an incredible almost 3 hour final set, Roger Federer advances to the gold medal match on Sunday when he defeats Juan Del Potro, winning 3-6,7-6, 19-17. For the other match Britain’s own Andy Murray wins over Novak Djokovic with a 7-5,7-5 victory to advance to the final.
In women’s soccor USA wins over New Zealand 2-0 to advance to the semifinal. Canada waits in the semis as they eliminate Great Britain. France beat Sweden and Japan who beat Brazil will advance as well.
