Jackson’s Last Words

“Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees.”

Jackson was irreplaceable.  He was Gen. Robert E Lee’s “right arm” and the remarkable Army of  Northern Virginia would never be the same without him. Thomas Jackson was wounded at the battle of Chancellorsville and his left arm had to be amputated. The operation was unsuccessful and pneumonia set in. He died on the 10th of may 1863.
