On Friday, June 22, 2012, Lebron James’s dream of becoming king had finally come true. The Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma Thunder in Game 5 to take the series 4-1 and become NBA champions of 2012. Lebron James also won his third Finals MVP trophy and claimed his first ring.
Ever since his coming to the Heat in 2010, James had been grizzled by many critiques. Those critiques pooped out even more when the Heat lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals 2011 4-2. In the regular season of 2011-2012, James learned to stop making the mistakes he did last year and the Heat had the second best record in the Eastern Conference. In the playoffs, they defeated the Knicks(4-1), the Pacers(4-2), and the Celtics(4-3).
After splitting Games 1&2, the Heat won consecutive games which led them to Game 5. By the end of the 1st Quarter, the Heat lead 31-26. By the end of the half Miami led by 10. In the 3rd Quarter, the Heat really fired up by showing up with a 17-0 run and leading 95-71 at the end of the third. By 3:01 in the fourth, Wade and James were taken out to relax and celebrate for their championship.
The Big 3 did well in Game 5, with Lebron James pulling off a triple double with 26pts, 13 assists, and 11 reb. Dwayne Wade had 20pts, 3 assists, and 8 reb. Bosh had 24pts and 7 rebounds. A major player was Mike Miller, he had 23 pts as well as a couple of three pointers. Spolestra firstly wanted Miller to play 3-4 minutes, but with Wade at foul trouble, he decided to let Miller stay for 23:14.
An great ride for the Miami Heat, and they finish it off by becoming the 2012 NBA champions.
