Last Thursday, US and EU anti-trust regulators gave the final approval of Microsoft’s purchase of Skype. Skype is the biggest video calling program out in the world today, with 300 million minutes of video transmitted every day.
Microsoft spent 8.5 billion dollars in its biggest ever acquisition, and it dedicated an entire division of Microsoft to Skype. Skype CEO Tony Bates is now the president of the Skype division.
Microsoft is keeping the iOS, Android and Mac platforms of Skype, and of course kept it on Windows. They also hinted that they would integrate it into “an array of Microsoft products.”
