Commemorating Steve Jobs

As many of you may know, Steve Jobs passed away at 5 o’clock Pacific Time on October 5. The world has lost an important icon. Jobs was the chief executive officer of Apple, and an inspiration and a visionary to many people.

“Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.

In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family. We are thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers during the last year of Steve’s illness; a website will be provided for those who wish to offer tributes and memories.

We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief.”

Mr. Jobs lead the most influential company on earth. Although Apple wasn’t the first company in the PC business, they were the ones that made it usable to the public. And although Apple wasn’t the first company in the smartphone business, they were the first to make it appealing to the public eye. And although Apple wasn’t the first company in the tablet business, the iPad is almost uncontested in its ease of use.

So, Steve Jobs has, in fact, turned Apple around from the brink of bankruptcy and made it one of the best companies in the world. He started an era, and with his death that era has not ended. We will miss him forever.
